Dr Diane Farrar
Director of Clinical and Research Governance
Diane is a clinical academic, being both a midwife and health researcher. Diane worked as a hospital based midwife, most recently as a labour ward shift manager at the Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) maternity unit. Her first degree, a BSc in Health Science, was awarded by the University of Leeds, she also gained a BSc in Psychology from the Open University and a PhD in Research Innovation (reproductive endocrinology) from the University of Bradford’s Pharmacy dept.
Diane has conducted research in several maternal and infant health areas including: gestational diabetes, blood pressure change and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, cognition in pregnancy and care in labour. Diane is academic editor for the journal PLOS ONE, is a member of the clinical research network, reproductive health and childbirth team at the BRI maternity unit and was until recently a member of the Leeds West Ethics committee.
